The name of al-Haniya by this name, due to its distinctive geographical location, considering that the area takes a curved shape on the highway, but its real name, which has been known since ancient times between fathers and ancestors «Al Ramla» due to the presence of golden sand in it, unlike the geological nature of the Emirate of Fujairah which mostly consists of a high mountain range.
The people of the region have long relied on herbal blends and alternative medicine by collecting herbs and medicinal plants from the surrounding mountains when the rain falls in the winter season, and used them in the treatment of many diseases.
Some residents of Al-Haniya are known for the hobby of breeding camels and falcons, as there are many falcons in the region, and the presence of sand dunes that contributed to providing the natural environment for prey of birds and wild rabbits, which contributed to the popularity of the Haniya to raise falcons of the desired and distinctive qualities on the level of the UAE and the Arabian Gulf, and therefore the people of Al-Haniya have professionalized the profession of hunting falcons.
